Boats / Jetski Insurance
Insurance for watercraft is very similar to insuring an automobile. On the water, you would still want to have liability coverage if you hit another boat - same with uninsured motorists if you are hit by another boater but this is called uninsured boaters coverage. If you want to cover your boat for any damage it would sustain, you would still want comprehensive and collision coverage and you can have medical payments coverage for bodily injury for you or anyone on your boat if injured in a boating incident. Below are some differences when insuring watercraft and other thoughts:
Personal effects - these are the "loose" items you typically carry on your watercraft such as coolers, skis, portable radios, fishing equipment, clothing, cameras, cooking equipment, etc. We typically say that if you could pick up your boat, turn it over and shake it - what falls out is your personal effects. These can be covered on many watercraft policies for a small additional premium.
Roadside Assistance - for watercraft, this typically would cover you if your watercraft is on a trailer being towed. You may have roadside for your vehicle, but it does not extend with most companies to the boat you are towing. It would be sad to see a tow vehicle moving your car or truck which broke down and leave your boat behind.
