When you arrive at the dam, you can see Lake Mead in contrast against the volcanic rock of Black Mountain. You'll have 90 minutes to explore the dam and ample time to take the Discovery Tour, which is included in your tour price. This allows you entrance into the Visitor's Center, observation decks, exhibits, a 25-minute film about the dam's construction and presentations by professional guides who are located at various points of interest.
